This comment needs to be a main post

For all of you who have enjoyed having the opportunity to take FREE computer classes, you have much to thank Donna Prough for organizing class signup and creating rosters and THEN coaching so many of the classes. Those of us who have worked with Donna know just how much her efforts made these classes possible!
Thank you, Donna. Not only have you done so much, but you have been unfailingly pleasant to work with! We will miss you and we hope and pray for a way to improve your sight....pjw

Thanks P.J. you have put into words what some many of us feel about Donna. -A.J.

Just in case you don't read the comments

BTW, we didn't know what we were going to do when we lost Barbara --then Norm showed up and did a wonderful job. When Norm's life became too hectic for him to continue keeping us on track, Donna stepped in. Each thought they could not possibly take the place of that indispensable person who preceded them.
Now we are in the same situation once again. There are those who teach, there are those who coach, there are those who put the word out (promote/advertise/describe) AND there are those who organize. Without the organizer, the whole enterprise is a mess. If you are interested in keeping these classes going smoothly, please consider volunteering. Call the library (479-783-0229) or talk to one of the teachers or coaches. Your efforts would be greatly appreciated!

Donna to Retire

Donna is having to "retire" as our go-to person. Donna's vision problems will not longer allow her to do all she does. Please be in prayer that the macular degeneration will not worsen and her vision can be completely restored. We really don't have a title for what she does. Everything, would be a good description. I can not thank Donna enough for all she has done for us.

We need a volunteer to assume Donna's duties. Perhaps you would try it for just this summer session. Please email me at: ajlinds@yahoo.com.

Blog Class Today (Tuesday) 1:30 PM

The blog class is today (Tues) at 1:30 PM in the computer lab at the FSPL.
There will probably be some seats available even if you have not signed up.

This will be a fun class. Hope to see you there.

More Ebay Tips Video

This video is from a guy who has done computer newsletters and even been on a TV network that specialized in computer stuff. The quality is not that great because it comes from a webcam. He seems to be impressed with the fact that he has sold $1000 of stuff he didn't want, and is now an expert. His info is not bad but I take exception with his love for UPS. I find UPS to be the most expensive way to ship anything. Ground service from here to California is a full week. FedEx ground is cheaper and faster. Sometimes when buying you don't have a choice. U.S. Postal service, Priority service is the fastest and cheapest up to a certain weight. As Ann Cottrill pointed out in our last Ebay class: With a cheap digital scale (purchased on Ebay) and a Paypal account, you can pack, print and purchase postage, and have the package picked up at your home. The printed postage looks very professional and you can even have the amount of the postage not show on the print. You then tape the printed page to the package and it is ready to go with a tracking number that costs less than what you pay at the post office. To my knowledge UPS charges to pickup a package for shipping.

With this in mind here is the video:

What to Sell on Ebay

I am often asked what to sell on Ebay. When I attended Ebay University, one of the items thay gave us was a unique ball point pen. The speaker mentioned to watch Ebay some of these pens would turn up for sale. He was right. When I got home and looked they were listed for sale on Ebay. The video below will introduce you to a little known feature on Ebay. It's called "Want It Now". Here folks post what they are looking for. Maybe you have it. I could not find it like the guy on the video demonstrates. They have apparently moved it off the front page. I am giving you the link here: http://pages.ebay.com/wantitnow/
After you watch the video you can come back here and click on the link.
Also, this guy is selling some software. I think it sells for $47.00. I am not suggesting this software. I have not tried it. I am posting this so you can learn about the FREE "Want It Now" section that I never knew existed, until I saw this video.

Free Ebay Research Tool

Here is one very important FREE tool I did not have time to mention during the Ebay class.
Before you sell an item you want to know what you can expect to sell it for. Right?
You could look on Ebay, but there you would only see current auctions that are still running. This site offers some FREE research for sold items in the last 30 dAYS. Of course they are trying to sell their advanced services but I have been very happy with the free stuff.

First go to the site:
http://www.terapeak.com/

Then click on "free Tools"

Type in the item in the search box and click on "Free Research"

Then in the search report use the drop down arrow and change to "30 days"

Then click on "search"

The results are amazing and will help you decide on what is selling well, when to sell it, what the listing looks like for the best selling item and much more.

This may be advanced for some but as you do more selling on Ebay this will become very valuable to you.

As always please leave a comment if this is useful or not to you.

Ebay Class Hand Outs

Many of your class evaluation sheet mentioned you would like to have a handout. So, for those of you reading this blog, if you will click on the comments and leave your name and mailing address, I will send you a hand out that will list the fee structure for selling on Ebay. There are two fees involved with selling on Ebay. The insertion fee, which is usually under $1, and the final auction fee which is based on the price your item sells for. If it doesn't sell, all you pay is the insertion fee. If you want to accept Paypal payments (credit cards and checks) there is a fee for that. We didn't have time in the class to go into detail on the fee structure, so I think this handout will help.
